Smooth Scrolling

Linking to an anchor on another page, directory or website looks really amateurish if the page opens without the addition of smooth scrolling from the top of the page to the anchor.
Use the anchor navigation above or the link below for info about smooth scrolling to anchors on another page or website …

ThemeKit RWD-X

Using the ThemeKit Responsive and the ThemeKit Responsive Media templates to create a responsive website allows EverWeb users to create a much more professional website in terms of design and download efficiency than using the default items and the rather obtuse responsive row.
Building from a ThemeKit template is much easier, quicker and with better results.
The ThemeKit RWD-X template and widgets pack contains items to expand the design and functions of a responsive website for those who need to upgrade their site or cater for a client's requirements.

Mobile Touch Targets

Creating a responsive web design is all about encouraging visitors to interact with the content using touch controls. To make this possible and satisfy Google's criteria for touch targets action tabs need to be sized and spaced appropriately.
Tab Size
The minimum touch target area is 42px x 42px. This doesn't mean that the actual action tab needs to be that size. It means that the center of the tab must be at least 42px away from any other iinteractive trigger.
If an icon link has a size of 32px and has an all around spacing of at least 5px from any other sontent it will satisfy the minimum size criteria.
This info makes it clear that links in text should not be used. Use a text widget with a built in CTA (call to action) style link tab or a link bar like the one shown below if more are required.

Link Bar

The ThemeKit RWD-X Links widget creates a row of internal/ecternal link tabs in a flex layout so that they can return to two or more lines when the viewport width is reduced.
At a pinch the link bar can be used for a small site navigation but its main use is for extra links below text and quick links at the bottom of the page

Custom Code

Footer

Many web designers still seem to be stuck on the idea that a large footer stuffed with hard to find and read info is required.
There's no actual rule that requires a footer and a lot of good reasons for dispensing with it - particularly on a responsive page design.
These footers repeat all the info on every page which could easily be on a single info page if really required.
Most of them use PNG icons which impede page download time and some don't even have a smooth scroll to the top function..
Try loading one on a phone to see how much extra scrolling is required.
Faster
Join the movement to make the internet faster and more efficient by getting rid of that useless footer or replacing it with a much better alternative shown below.
Use the link below to read a description of the footer alternative.
