Video Modals

Inserting video offscreen on load has a number of advantages. If the video is lazy loaded it will not download until the visitor actually plays it. This allows for much faster page download time in the browser.
The best way to keep a visitor on a webpage is to engage then with interactive content. When they click or tap to reveal an item it gives them a sense of discovery.
Using offscreen on load content keeps the amount of scrolling to a minimum for the benefit of small mobile device users.

Modal Widgets

The modals are launched from a bar with a video icon and a text label.

Video MP4

The video is inserted in two sizes for computer and smaller mobile devices. The video is in an HTML5 <figure>.
It is lazy loaded and the optional video title is in the <figcaption> element.

Vimeo & YouTube

The widget only requires the Vimeo or YouTube ID. If the video has an aspect ratio or than 16:9 the video files' width and height can be inserted in the widget settings.
