Research has shown that the average web surfer takes less than a second to form an impression of the page. It becomes obvious that the designer needs to grab their attention immediately with something different from the standard hero item.
This animated item is a separate widget that is inserted below the hero image on the EverWeb design canvas. The item is transformed on Y-axis so that it overlaps the item above.
Animation
When the optional animation is applied it can occur once or every time the item enters the viewport.
By default animation should be removed for mobile phones. There is a checkbox to animate the item on phones if really required.
Attention Grabber
Using an item like this makes the onload user experience much more dramatic and really draws attention to the content of the animated item whether it be text and a link, an image, a video, carousel or a slideshow.
Better Design
Most responsive websites made using templates end up all looking as if they all came out of the same mold. Items tend to be in rows and blocks with no separation.
Research has shown that spacing out items makes them easier to find and focus on. Better designers also use overlaps to stagger items to escape from the boxiness inherent in most page layouts
